We are an Islamic Sufi community rooted in the teachings and lineage of Mevlana (“Our Master”) Jalaluddin Rumi. Rumi taught a path that cultivates our essential humanness through conscious relationship with God, within community and with the world. We understand islam (Arabic for “self-surrender to the Divine”) as the din al-fitra, or “primordial religion,” present within all authentic spiritual paths and as the deepest longing within every human heart. This universal islam lies at the heart of Islam, the path revealed through the Prophet Muhammad fourteen centuries ago, in which our tradition is rooted.
On this path we call ourselves “lovers,” and growth in Love is our primary concern. Such growth is a lifelong process of refining our egos, bringing unconscious motivations to light, and cultivating essential human qualities such as humility, presence, and gratitude. Our tradition teaches us that we come from Love, are being educated in and by Love, and are ever-returning to Love. Our path seeks to make that journey a conscious one. We welcome people of all (and no) spiritual or religious backgrounds to our gatherings.
